Michael Klein

Michael S. Klein has over 30 years of business experience.  For most of that time Mike has served as Chief Executive Officer with several successful startup companies as well as Division President and General Manager in several large publicly traded companies. As part of Mike's startup company experience he has served as CEO of Sonacare Medical, a novel ultrasound based urology company as well as the CEO for two other sought after medical technology  companies in the focused energy and diagnostic imaging arena.  His first startup company, R2 Technology, was acquired by Hologic Medical (HOLX) for $300M.  His second company, Xoft was also acquired by a publicly traded company, iCAD.

 

Previous public company experience includes serving as General Manager for Varian Medical Systems (VAR), a $500M oncology business.  In this role, Mike introduced the novel concept of computer driven radiation therapy. During his tenure, Mike increased company revenues by over 50% while simultaneously increasing operating income and market share. Mike also ran the hypodermic needle and syringe business for Becton Dickinson Corporation (BDX), a $500M business, and served as President of a Division of Roper Industries (ROP), a $16B publicly traded company, where he ran Civco’s Radiation Therapy Business.

 

Prior to his operational roles,  Mike served as Senior Director of Training and Development for SCM Corporation which included assignments at constituent divisions such as Proctor Silex, Glidden Paint and Durkee Foods.  Previously Mike served as Senior Manager of Corporate Training for General Electric.

 

Most recently Mike has served as the principal partner for Inflection Point Executive Consulting where he serves as a coach for CEO’s and C-Level Executives.  He had served as coach and consultant for over a dozen technology based start up ventures.  Mike’s efforts have ranged from medical technology to biopharma and have included medical information technology, services, and distribution systems.   A primary focus is securing startup financing that creates value for investors while minimizing dilution. Another area of expertise is developing commercialization and ramp plans for both US and International markets.  

 

In Fall of 2016, Mike will  teach at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business.  He will maintain 5 to 6 active Life Science Clients.  Mike's future engagements will draw upon experience in a wide array Life Science areas including imaging technologies, radiation therapy, surgical disposables and hospital based disinfection management systems. Mike’s representative clients include CureMetrix, in the breast imaging diagnostic arena,  Innovein, a novel peripheral venous arterial technology as well as Purple Sun, a novel UV disinfection system for the reduction of resistant hospital based infections  

 

Mike has an MBA from New York Institute of Technology as well as post-graduate Executive Education Training at Harvard Business School.  He is a frequent speaker, lecturer and writer on the subject of leadership and entrepreneurship. He has been a guest lecturer at both Stanford and Santa Clara graduate programs as well as an invited keynote speaker at multiple business events and functions

 

As part of Mike’s philanthropic efforts, he has served as Master of Ceremonies for fundraising events for multiple charitable organizations.  He spends time at the Redwood City Homeless Shelter and has served as a spiritual care volunteer for critically ill patients at Stanford Hospital. Mike and his wife Linda and 3 adult children live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
